OUR COMMUNITY

About Teacher Writers
We support teachers who write.

Your expertise deserves a wider audience. Whether you have a manuscript or the beginnings of an idea, we help you create writing that informs, inspires and makes an impact.

OUR MISSION

Education deserves expert voices

Some of the most valuable knowledge about education belongs to the people who work in it. Teachers, school leaders, consultants, trainers and researchers develop ideas that can improve practice, challenge assumptions and help others solve difficult problems. Too often, that knowledge never travels beyond a classroom, school or professional network.

Teacher Writers exists to help education professionals share their expertise more widely.

We provide the guidance and professional publishing support needed to turn a worthwhile idea into a clear, credible and professionally produced book. Authors can approach us with a completed manuscript, an early draft or simply an idea they would like to explore.

Publishing support built around education

Education books need more than technically accurate editing. They must understand their readers, reflect the realities of education and communicate complex ideas clearly without losing their practical value.

Teacher Writers specialises in working with education professionals. We understand that authors are often writing alongside demanding roles and may be publishing for the first time. Our approach combines high professional standards with clear guidance, realistic expectations and support throughout the project.

Before writing begins, we help authors consider the purpose of the book, the people it is intended to help and the place it could occupy in the market. This creates a stronger foundation for the manuscript and gives the author a clearer sense of direction.

An experienced publishing team

Teacher Writers brings together experienced developmental editors, copyeditors, proofreaders, typesetters, cover designers and other publishing professionals.

Collectively, members of the team have worked on hundreds of books. Each project is assigned to professionals whose skills and experience suit the manuscript, subject and intended readership.

Authors work directly with their editor during the editorial stages. This makes it possible to discuss feedback, resolve questions and strengthen the manuscript through genuine collaboration. The aim is not to impose a standard house voice, but to help authors communicate their own ideas as clearly and effectively as possible.

An author-first approach

The author’s expertise, purpose and voice remain central throughout the project.

We provide honest editorial and commercial guidance, including constructive feedback when an idea, structure or section of a manuscript could be improved. Decisions are explained clearly and discussed with the author rather than made without their involvement.

Authors retain ownership of their work and control of their publishing account. Teacher Writers provides the professional files and guidance needed for publication, while the author remains responsible for publishing through their own Amazon KDP account and receives royalties directly from Amazon.

Professional standards at every stage

Every book passes through a carefully managed process involving structural development, detailed editing, feedback, design, typesetting and proofreading.

Different members of the team contribute at the appropriate stage, giving the manuscript the benefit of several specialist perspectives. This helps ensure that the finished book is coherent, readable, professionally presented and appropriate for its intended audience.

A typical project can progress from submission of the completed first draft to publication in approximately three months. The precise schedule depends on the length and condition of the manuscript, the complexity of the project and the time required for author revisions.

Full details of the stages, available support and publishing packages can be found on our Publish Your Book page.

Books that make professional knowledge useful

Publishing a book is not simply about putting words into print. It is about making valuable knowledge accessible to the people who can use it.

We want every Teacher Writers book to have a clear purpose and a defined readership. That might mean helping teachers improve an aspect of classroom practice, supporting school leaders through a difficult responsibility, introducing a new professional approach or giving educators a different way to understand a familiar problem.

What we offer is thoughtful preparation, experienced professional support and a publishing process designed to help your book maximise its impact.
